Playing Around

What do kids do when bored? Play with imaginary friends.
What do designers do when bored? Well, aren't they just big kids? Here's the latest toy that I actually had the patientience to turn into a vector illustration:

My best intentions are to make a few more, so this little puppet can have friends to play with. As a child I loved my puppets - had a fox (my fave), elephant and a bear :)

Sleeping Beauty

Another pencil sketch - this time I decided to try something different instead of smooth curves for the hair. After scanning I brought in PhotoShop and added texture to the hair with some custom brushes.

Doodle Character

Very simple & primitive sketching. What should I name him?

Based on the ancient legend for the siren with hair made of snakes and gaze that turns you into stone. My twist - make her look innocent. I'm still not sure whether to add snake heads or just leave the hair as it is.

S-Laughter House

Isn't it funny how one word contains the other? I just happened to draw a little piggy today, really happy fellow... and then I took it to PhotoShop and look what happened.

Oink Oink!

A re months ago we visited the Botanical Gardens in Wahington, DC and loved the orchids. I was running around like crazy trying to caputre the differents specied which I've never seen before.

Today, trying to figure out what kind of art to put in the living room above the sofa, I suddenly had an inspiration. I overlayed a sold color on top of the orchid photos and voila! I think those will go perfectly above the brown leather couch.
